The Houston Shakespeare Festival is produced by The University of Houston and Miller Outdoor Theatre.
These two productions rehearsed and performed in repertory with the same cast of actors. The actors ranged from seasoned professional actors such as Seth Gilliam (pictured below) who was a series regular on OZ and The Wire to actors currently in university training. As voice and text coach, I worked with the director and cast to define terms, recommend pronunciations, and make sure each actor was using their optimal voice. I also worked closely with the dramaturg on cuts, edits, and clarity of language. I established collegial and mutually respectful relationships with the directors and ran concurrent rehearsals with the actors.
